5 Unique Gift Ideas For A Chocolate Lover

Image by John Loo on FlickrSometimes, the only thing that can cure a bad mood or relieve the stress and pressure of a long day is a good piece of chocolate.  Ahh, you can feel it starting to comfort you – and that’s not just in your head.  Chocolate, dark chocolate instead of the more processed milk chocolate, prompts your body to produce endorphins, which is the “high” you get when you exercise.  It also contains serotonin for a tasty anti-depressant.  Good for your mood, your heart, blood pressure, and cholesterol, chocolate also has antioxidants that protect the body from free radicals, which age us.  It’s a miracle food!  But even the chocolate lover should limit intake; instead of getting your chocolate lover chocolate, try one of these unique chocolate gifts.

Bathe in Chocolate.

Do you love chocolate so much that you just want to take a bath in it?  You can!  There is a wide selection of chocolate scented products to make bath time more sensuous and delicious.  There are chocolate bath salts, crystals, bubble bath, body wash… the list goes on and on.  Just one of these items can turn an ordinary shower or bath into a comforting experience.  Help your chocolate lover bring the relaxation of the spa home.  You can purchase these in stores or online, or you could try making your own.

Here is a recipe for Chocolate Mint Bath Salt, courtesy of The Merry Chocoholic.

You will need:

  • 1 cup sea salt or kosher salt
  • 1 cup Epsom salts
  • 2-3 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 5 drops essential oil of peppermint
  • 3 tablespoons dried, crushed mint leaves

Add the dry ingredients together in a bowl and mix them thoroughly.  Add the peppermint oil (which is optional) and mix.  Put the mixture into small, clean jars.  They can then be poured into the bath.  You can also make sachets to keep the mixture from floating in the bath by putting the ingredients in the middle of a piece of cheesecloth or muslin and tying.  This way, it acts like a big tea bag.

Chocolate Beauty.

Lip balms, body oils, massage oils, scrubs, lotions, and more will satisfy any appetite for chocolate.  Sweet Beauty Organic Chocolate Spa Treatments are an excellent choice, though there are many others available as well.  The Sweet Beauty Nourish Sugar Scrub, for instance, features a triple dose of chocolate to exfoliate dry skin cells away and moisturize skin.  It is made with organic cocoa and other yummy ingredients.  If you read the label, you might want to eat it!

Chocolate Beads.

No, this isn’t edible jewelry.  They are glass beads from Italy that are shaped to resemble chocolates.  You can enjoy Amaretto Truffles and Marbled Fudge without worrying about calories.  A bead or two on a necklace, bracelet, or earrings makes a thoughtful present for your chocolate lover.

You can also find chocolate pearls, diamonds, cubic zirconia, and more that feature the luscious color of chocolate.  Who could help but love a pair of chocolate pearl earrings?  This is a great gift if your chocolate lover also loves you!

Chocolate Candles.

Chocolate Dipped Exotic Fruits.

Okay, this is one that you can eat.  In addition to the typical, and delicious, strawberries and cherries, you can also find chocolate dipped oranges, kiwis, dates, mangoes, dried fruits, pineapples, apricots, peaches, ginger slices, and orange peels.  You can purchase these from gourmet chocolatiers, or you can make your own.  In either case, these make excellent treats when the sweet urge strikes.

Chocolate is one of the world’s favorite foods, and for good reason.  Creamy, delicious, decadent, and indulgent, these gifts show that chocolate can be enjoyed in more than one way.
