How To Make a Snack Gift Basket

Published October 29, 2013        by Sarah

snack gift basketThe next time you have a party to go to or are visiting a friend for an overnight stay, bring along a snack gift basket. You will be bringing some good cheer as well as a treat that no one can resist.

What are some things you could include in a snack basket? The question really is what can't you include! Snacks of every shape and kind can be incorporated into a basket for a good friend or family member.

Choose a Snack Theme

Start off by picking a theme. Do you want to go savory or sweet? Do you want a movie themed basket with treats you'd eat while watching a flick? Or do you want a basket that the kids can easily grab from to help themselves at snack time?

Start by choosing a container. This can be anything from a galvanized metal tub to a handsome wicker basket. Plastic is good when you're giving the basket to kids. Why not choose a beach pail or a big plastic tub that they can store toys in after the treats are all gone? If you're gifting a gardener friend, put the whole thing in a garden type basket. Or if you have a handyman friend, put it in a toolbox that he can use later. There's no end to the ideas you can come up with if you really think creatively. Try to come up with something that matches your recipient's personality.

Snacks to Includemovie gift basket

Next, shop for the snacks. A good idea is to get many different types of the same item. For instance, if you're going with crackers, get lots of different kinds. Then add in a nice wheel of cheese and a bottle of wine. Or if you're going with a movie gift basket, put in some Good n' Plenty candies, M&Ms, bags of popcorn, and some individual cans of soda. You might include movie tickets, too, depending on how much you want to spend.

Look at the grocery store for fun items you could include in your snack basket. Buy goldfish crackers in different sizes. They come in huge cracker size all the way down to tiny baby sized fish. Pair them with a plastic container shaped like a goldfish. Add in some juice boxes or pouches and you've got yourself a gift basket.

Prepping and Assembly

Assemble it all with heaviest items like cans of soda on the bottom. Bags that are light, like chips, should be gently placed on top. Add in some wet wipes for those Cheeto hands, too. And don't forget to add a note to say you hope they'll enjoy their little treat.

Consider mixing and matching chocolates with salty snacks like nuts and trail mix. Be sure to add in a few drinks. It can be nice to place a basket like this in a hotel room for the bride and groom after their reception or for a guest at your own home in the guest room. People love being able to help themselves and having a basket like this on hand really makes it easy.

Bring in a snack basket for a favorite teacher at your child's school. She can share it in the teacher's lounge. Or bring a basket to a child you're visiting at college. There's no end to the occasions that are just ideal for a snack gift basket!
