Celebrating Life Together
Marriage for any length of time is special. Every day, people celebrate their day that is significant for them. And whether it's your first anniversary, fifth or fiftieth, you're probably going to want to treat your partner to something wonderful.
Forget the normal bath robe or kitchen mixer, this is the time to give from the heart. That's what they will remember for a long time, and that's what you will feel most proud giving. Here are some ideas to help you with your inspiration.
Anniversary Gift Basket
Filled with special items
When you need something extraordinary to give to your partner, why stop at one item? Giving an anniversary gift basket allows you to pool together a whole batch of gifts that you know your partner will enjoy, and present it to them in a beautiful display.

What to put in it? Well it's going to depend on your personalities, your life together, and your partner's hobbies.
For a man: You can include grooming items if you think he will particularly enjoy that, but also look for things he otherwise enjoys like beer, favorite DVD's or CD's, an iTunes gift card, a much-desired video game, favorite snacks, etc. This list could go on and on!
For a woman: Think about including pamper items like bubble bath, bath salts, exfoliating scrub, yummy smelling lotions, that kind of thing. If it turns into a relaxation gift basket, so be it! If you want to move past the bath gift scene, try including items like a mix CD (no, this is not an old idea, us women love these!) Tickets to a favorite show, a snuggly blanket, etc.

Custom Love Cookies
The way to their heart is always through the stomach
If you want to give your partner something meaningful, but don't have a big budget, then you could always make them their own custom set of anniversary cookies! Start with plain sugar cookies (or make their favorite cookies if you'd rather not decorate!) And use royal icing or frosting to spruce up your cookies. Add special pictures or words or make them in the shape of hearts to make them extra thoughtful.
When they have cooled and/or dried, wrap them in cellophane and prop them up nicely in a basket, or tape the backs to long sticks and make your own gourmet cookie bouquet! They'll love the thoughtfulness and uniqueness of this gift.
A Cookie For Every Year
Nothing says 'I love you' like a party!
If you want to go above and beyond this year, why not throw a surprise anniversary party for your partner? This is especially wonderful for long term marriages like 15, 20, 25, even 50 years! Make (or have catered) their favorite foods and play a CD on loop with your favorite songs as a couple over the years.
Have your wedding colors displayed prominently on the tables, along with themed wedding anniversary favors to go along with your wedding theme, or that fit well with your relationship. And don't forget the slideshow! Put together photos of you and your partner over the years. Don't be surprised if they are brought to tears!

Gift of Memories
Give an Experience
Many people say that they'd rather get the gift of an experience than a material gift. If you think your partner would fit into that category, then go in that direction!
Think of things they have said were on their bucket list or that they've wanted to do for a long time and surprise them. Make the plans and then present it to them with everything already organized. They'll love it!

Some ideas of activities might be skydiving, whitewater rafting, traveling to a certain destination, bungy jumping, swimming with sharks, deep-sea diving, riding a hot air balloon, climb a mountain, go cliff jumping, the list goes on and on!
Meaningful Gift Ideas
And Frugal Too
Giving a special gift is often times associated with spending lots of money, but that's not exactly how it needs to be. You can create a memorable gift just by being thoughtful and making the most of good times. Think back to one of your favorite memories and go from there. Think of the day, the place, the conversation, whatever it was that made that memory special. Then turn your creative cap on to come up with a way to express that memory in a craft or simple gift.
