When you’re celebrating with friends, you probably have lots of drink options on the table. When you’re planning a baby shower with a guest list that includes those same friends, though, your choices are likely a bit more limiting. After all, why serve drinks the mother-to-be can’t indulge in? Here are a few other ideas you may want to consider.
The Right Recipes
Good drink choices are all about the right recipes, and while you don’t have to do anything fancy, you do have lots of different options. You may want to consider the classic shower punch with a half-gallon of sherbet, a can of pineapple juice and a two-liter bottle of ginger ale. You may also want to step things up a notch with smoothies, limeades, or even virgin drink versions of your favorites. In colder weather, you may want to go with some favorites like lattes, cocoa, or even spiced apple cider. The key is to select something that works with both your budget and your menu at the same time because drinks can get expensive in a hurry.
The Perfect Containers
Why stick with red plastic cups when you can do something a little more exciting for your guests? These ideas make for cute table decorations and great choices on the big day.
Mason Jars – Few things say rustic quite like drinking out of a Mason Jar, but they’re nothing if not adorable. Feel free to leave them on the table empty or prefill them if you like. You may even want to let your guests take them home as a baby shower favor. You can pick them up new at your local grocery story or scour the thrift shops in your area for a great selection that won’t cost you much.
Glass Soda and Milk Bottles – If you never experienced the thrill of drinking from a glass soda or milk bottle as a child, this one may not make sense to you. Fortunately, they’re as cute as they are fun to drink from, and they’re completely recyclable. You can pick up the right ones for your party at a number of online shops and marketplaces like Etsy and Ebay.
Customized Water Bottles – Even if you don’t want to go to the trouble of a great beverage idea, consider water. Customized bottles can make it look like you’ve spent a ton of time and effort on the drink choice too. You can get all sorts of personalized baby shower favor labels that match your theme or even info about the baby. Shop around online for great deals.
Reusable Cups – If you want to combine the party favor with the drink vessel, this is a great choice. You can order customized ones for fairly cheap or just get them off the shelf at any store. You’ll get a huge bonus if you go with the double-walled tumblers with lids and straws that are so popular nowadays.
No matter what you decide to serve at that baby shower, your guests are going to enjoy the experience!
