Top 10 Best Gift Ideas for Teens

Honestly, I can't think of a more difficult group of people to buy birthday or Christmas gifts for than teenage boys and girls. As a parent or grandparent, it can be difficult to stay on top the latest trends in technology and fashion. In this post, I try to navigate the teenage gift waters by giving you a wide array of ideas that would be suitable for the interests of different teenagers.

Whether she is a fashionista, he is a snowboard enthusiast, or he/she loves the latest and greatest gadgets, I've got it covered in this article!

#1) Hottest MP3 Player & Accessories

Chances are that your teenager has or wants an iPod or iPod nano for listening to music. But if you want to save a bit of money, consider all types of popular MP3 players with great sound quality. These are often times just as great and still do everything that an Apple iPod would do.

I can't think of another age group that is so driven and in to technology. Teenagers love having the latest gadget and they are a "must" for the in-crowd at school. Below you'll find some of the most popular items from Amazon such as MP3 players, digital cameras, laptops, cell phones and more. Keep in mind that these ideas are perfect for more than Christmas, consider them for birthdays, congratulations, and even graduation gifts.

#2) Digital Camera

Teenagers love having fun with their friends so why not give them a good camera to capture all those memories? These days, technology has come a long way and you're able to purchase a quality digital camera for much less than you used to be able to.

Visit your local electronics store for some great ideas on what is hot this year.

#3) Magazine Subscriptions for Teens

#4) Camcorder

Making videos is a popular hobby for teens these days so give them a camcorder that will allow them to get the best picture quality.

#5) Computer/Laptop

A necessity for any teen! These are now an essential for writing papers, taking online tests, or just checking their Facebook. Of course there are plenty of laptops and desktops on the market to choose from, so after sorting out your teen's needs, head to the store to find the perfect computer with the right tools.

#6) Gift Cards for Teens

While gift cards may seem a bit impersonal, they are the #1 wished for item on teenage gift lists. Choose their favorite store or local movie theater and you are sure to have a surefire winner!

#7) Cell Phone

Well it seems that Apple and Samsung are in a war over cell phone patents and the like, but I must say that I prefer the Samsung Galaxy and they make phones that are a perfect option for any teen!

#8) Great Books

I've read the Hunger Game series by Suzanne Colllins and I'd highly recommend it to anyone giving a gift to a teenager that likes to read. I couldn't put the first book down and literally read it in a couple days.

#9) Digital Media Player

The Roku box will allow your teen to stream over 150,000 movies and TV shows directly to their television. This is one hot gift this season!

#10) Video Gaming Systems

Whether you choose a Playstation, a Wii, or Xbox, teens love playing video games and these systems will keep them entertained for hours!

#Bonus - Freestyle Snowboards

Whamo Snowboard (95cm)
Of course, teens love to have fun and the winter can bring a series of boredom for them. Break that boredom with a freestyle snowboard that they can use in their backyard or at a hill in town. They will be the envy of the neighborhood and it's sure to keep them busy for hours.
